Practical answers for installing TiledBrowser, activating a license, recovering a license key, and enabling the companion Safari extension.
Safari does not currently provide a built-in Arc-style tiled tab workspace for arranging several Safari tabs inside one browser window. TiledBrowser works as a Safari companion by sending selected Safari tab URLs into a native macOS app where they open side-by-side in resizable tiled panes.
No. TiledBrowser is designed as a Safari companion, not a full Safari replacement. Use Safari as your main browser, then send tabs to TiledBrowser when you need a focused side-by-side workspace.
It is both. The Safari extension handles the handoff from Safari, and the native macOS app displays the tiled web workspace.
TiledBrowser uses Apple's WebKit through native WKWebView panes, making it feel at home on macOS.
TiledBrowser opens the same URLs from Safari, but the tiled workspace runs inside the native macOS app. Users may need to sign in inside TiledBrowser for services that require authentication.
Some UK and European Google consent flows can behave differently inside embedded WebKit panes than they do in Safari. If Google keeps returning to the consent page, use TiledBrowser > Clear Website Data, quit and reopen TiledBrowser, then try again. If Google still refuses the consent flow, open that Google page in Safari; other sites should continue working normally in TiledBrowser.
After checkout, Stripe redirects you to a TiledBrowser license page showing the email and license key for activation.
Use the license recovery page with the purchase email address. If a license exists for that email, the license key is emailed back to that same address. Recover your license.
Because TiledBrowser is delivered as a digital download with an issued license key, purchases are generally non-refundable once the license key has been generated. If you experience an installation or activation issue, contact support@tiledbrowser.app and we will help resolve it.
Yes. The TiledBrowser macOS app includes the companion Safari extension in the app bundle. After installing the app, enable the extension in Safari settings so selected Safari tabs can be sent into TiledBrowser.
Safari may hide extension toolbar buttons when the tab layout is set to Compact or the window is narrow. Use View > Customize Toolbar in Safari and drag the TiledBrowser icon back into the toolbar. If compact layout keeps hiding the icon, Safari's Separate tab layout gives extension buttons the most reliable visibility.
Safari extensions can help with handoff and browser actions, but they cannot rebuild Safari's own tab strip and window chrome into a true multi-pane workspace. TiledBrowser uses the extension only to send selected tabs into a native Mac app where the panes, layouts, workspace state, and viewport controls can be managed properly.
TiledBrowser is designed for focused layouts such as two panes, three panes, or a 2 by 2 grid. This keeps the workspace useful without becoming as cluttered as normal browser tabs.
Yes. TiledBrowser can save and restore tiled layouts so you can return to the same group of pages later.
Yes. TiledBrowser supports viewport-focused workflows, making it useful for comparing mobile, tablet, and desktop widths side-by-side.
The first version focuses on Safari and macOS. Future browser handoff options may be considered based on user demand.
Each license can be activated on up to two Macs. Reopening the app on an already activated Mac works offline after activation.
The first activation requires an internet connection. After activation, TiledBrowser verifies the signed license token locally and can keep working offline.
Early Access gives you the current signed and notarized app while TiledBrowser is still being refined through real-world use. It is functional and actively supported, but features and details may change and occasional issues may still be found. The full release is the wider stable launch after that refinement. Your one-time Early Access license remains valid and includes the full release through in-app updates.
The launch offer is US$5 for a one-time TiledBrowser license. It includes use on up to two Macs and updates during the early access period. The regular price is US$9.99 after launch.
TiledBrowser uses Sparkle for in-app Mac updates. Early access customers receive updates as new builds ship.
